(Dan Tri) – Russia is preparing the weapons they expect to use to deal with Ukraine when the West transfers F-16 fighters to Kiev.

An informed source told Sputnik that the Russian military is optimizing electronic warfare systems to target F-16 aircraft that the West plans to transfer to Ukraine in the near future.

The source said: `Russian electronic warfare systems used in the area of \u200b\u200bspecial military operations will be optimized to block radars and equipment on Russian F-16 fighter jets.

`Based on what Russia knows about the avionics on NATO’s frontline fighters, stopping them will be easier than the Soviet-designed aircraft in Ukraine’s inventory.`

Last month, Sputnik quoted sources saying that Russian electronic warfare systems had succeeded in forcing Ukrainian fighters to abandon their combat missions and return to base due to interference from the combat systems.

Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway plan to deliver up to 71 F-16s to the Ukrainian Air Force as early as 2024. Training of Ukrainian pilots began in Denmark and the US in the past few months.

However, Commander of US Air Forces in Europe, General James B. Heckler, warned in August that it could take 4-5 years for Ukrainian pilots to become proficient enough to operate the F-16.

That means that when Ukraine receives the F-16, this fighter can help Kiev, but this is not a `silver bullet` that can change the game.

Russia is considered a leading power in electronic warfare.

`Unfortunately, Russia is far ahead of us in this area. You don’t need to shoot down a drone with missiles or anti-aircraft guns. You can simply force it to land, intercept it

`Russia now possesses powerful systems that can interfere in the work of our defense forces. They have enough of these systems. Ukraine has made progress in electronic warfare, but they

Electronic warfare weapons are often called `invisible killers` because they are military weapons that use electromagnetic energy to attack or disrupt the operations of opponents.

It can disable any device that uses electricity and can be carried out from the ground, in the air, on land, at sea and in space without the use of explosives or direct attacks.

In Ukraine, Russia is allowed to use electronic warfare complexes such as Krasukha-2, Krasukha-4, RB-341V LEER-3, R-330Zh Zhitel, Murmansk-BN and Moskva-1.
